About us

We are a mother-daughter team  from the Chicagoland area.

Jeanne began grooming in 1968 and was taught by award winning groomer Romaine Michelle.  She is married to Michael Mulcahy and they have three children Ryan, Sean, and Meggan.  She has owned and operated several grooming salons in the Chicagoland area including The Great Lakes Academy of Pet Styling, a vocational school.  During her time as a teacher she has taught many talented and award winning pet stylists, including her daughter, Meggan who is also a groomer at A Gucci Pooch, and her son Ryan who now runs her school.  In addition to teaching many rising stars, she is also an award winning groomer with bragging rights to four covers of our trade magazine Groomer to Groomer, several best in shows, and a place on the US Groom Team.  She is now retired from the show ring, but enjoys showing her horses in reining, trail, and western pleasure.  Her favorite dogs are the ones she can make especially cute with accessories like bows and glitter.

Meggan is Jeanne's daughter and began grooming in1992, when she was only 9 years old.  At age twelve, she entered a grooming competition and took second place over many seasoned groomers.  She continued a very successful career in the competitions and also was teaching at Jeanne's school by the time she was 14.  She took a break from competition after high school to pursue an education at the University of Illinois where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Philosophy.  After college, Meggan opened her own salon in New Lenox called A Gucci Pooch and was very successful for two years.  She then sold A Gucci Pooch to her apprentice Jordan (another talented groomer) to move to Arizona with her Fiance Keith.  During those two years, Meggan decided to enter the competition ring again, and is on the February/March issue of Groomer to Groomer with her winning entry "Charmed."  In addition to excelling at grooming, Meggan also shares a passion for horses and trained her horse from the start.  Meggan especially likes to give show cuts, but her favorite dogs are terriers and Portuguese Water Dogs, along with the little naughty ones too.
